The terubuk, some say it is the milk fish, some say it is the river herring, others ; shad fish. Whatever the species is, it is nice to eat if you do not mind the small bones and lots of it. The fish is oily with large scales.
This terubuk is cooked with assam and chilly. It is known as Assam Pedas. Literally meaning sour and spicy.
I tried this dish as I was told that this was the late father of the Sultan of Selangor 's favourite dish.
